Sun Setting On Our Field, by Rainer

Did the rose
Ever open its heart

And give this world
All its

It felt the encouragement of light
Against its

We all remain

Bloom Day May 17, 2009

Good ol' geraniums. Almost always blooming, almost always covered in ants.

Trying to show potted flowers on the front porch, the big attempt to make it nice and welcoming to humans, too. We even have a pink potty ready for anyone who needs it.

Comfrey gets huge. Never watered this ever.

We finally have calla lily (here decorated with geranium), thanks to Ami at the homeschooler's plant exchange.

Yellow-eyed grass, a native plant. Thanks to Melissa for helping me with the name and for giving it to us last year.

Red poppies and purple french lavender blossom in Rainer's hand.

Buttercups and California poppy.

Rosebush thanks to Jackie.

Everything is blooming here: mallow, french lavender, calendula, unidentified beauties on the right, the two sweeties in the middle.

Bloom Day has been great but we're finding we can't keep up with everything making flowers now. Soon to come on this blog will be the photo evidence of all completed requirements for the NWF Backyard Habitat program. We'll pay the fee and get the plaque, too, just for fun.
